Arcelina Marques graduated in Physics from University of Porto, and got her MSc degree in Physics of Laser Communications from University of Essex, in 1988 and 1992, respectively. She got her PhD in Engineering Sciences from University of Porto in 2008, by developing a sensor (Portuguese patent), for measuring foot forces, with major relevance on the shear component measurement. She is with Polytechnic of Porto – School of Engineering since 1995, where she lectures physics, electronics and biomechanics courses. She has been involved in several R&D projects and has been a member of the Physics Department Management Board, being responsible for the laboratory facilities, from 2008-2012 and also presently. She is author and co-author of more than 45 conference and journal papers, 1 national patent and 1 book chapter, covering areas of Physics-Optoelectronics, Biomechanics, Engineering Education and Remote Experimentation. She was one of the Program Chairs of REV2014, organized by the School of Engineering – Polytechnic of Porto and participated in the European funded project TRAILER, which aimed to develop a tool to recognize Informal Learning activities and related competences within academic and professional environments, by coordinating the pilots trials develop by each project partner.
